I’m finally here for your week two update. This past week marked the beginning of our first 2-week session of the summer for some of our villages. What great fun we’ve had this week! We had our fabulous activities as usual such as kayaking, low and high ropes, basketball, wilderness survival,
and mountain boarding just to name a few. During my daily rounds I visited the snack bar and camp store where many campers were enjoying a relaxing moment. I hear the Chaco Taco’s and ChipWiches are hard to keep in stock.
This past week we had our first Challenge Trip of the summer go out. A White Water Rafting trip went out to West Virginia to ride on the New River with some very excited campers. Zee our village director tells me they had a great time, just as I suspected.
Being the one-man photography team that I am I don’t always get to see every moment on camp first hand but I do have my informants.
I’ve been informed that during fishing one of our counselors caught a rather large catfish out of Friendship Lake ( it was promptly returned to its home). We are talking somewhere between 5 and 8 pounds I’ve been told, although that number grows every time I hear about it. I also arrived just a bit late to see the end of a nice mud bath during one of our Mountain Biking activities. Isn’t that right Morgan? If only I’d been there just a few minutes earlier.
As if all that wasn’t enough we’ve had our evening activities to keep the spirit alive and well this week. Some of the evening activities enjoyed this week were Dodgeball a favorite over at Junior Boys Village, just check out the photos.
Junior Girls and Mini Camp enjoyed a great performance on the Friendship Stage of Lip Synching their favorite tunes. It was great fun! Senior Village had a great time during the “Insanity” activity, where the various teams have to answer questions or complete goals for points. One of their questions was to guess my age or last name and let me just say THANK YOU very much to the team that said I was 18. You were very wrong but you did earn my appreciation.
These were some great evening activities this week but lets not forget the big one. This week we had Radio Disney stop by for a visit and have a little bit of fun with the Junior Villages and Mini Camp.
The Radio Disney/Pool Party was a great success, I know many of our counselors and campers loved the music and prizes. I took tons of photos since there was so much going on so go take a look. It really was a blast. Thank you to Christin, Ryan and the rest of the Radio Disney cast members for putting on a great show for our campers.
Riding Camp has been working very hard this past week in preparation for the upcoming Horse Show on Friday the 4th of July. The girls are all very excited for the show.
I know we didn’t get too many photos of horsey camp this week so we’ll try and do better. Jamie our Riding Camp Village Director tells me there’s some fun stuff coming up for Riding Camp this week so i’ll be on the look out.
Some of our Village Directors shared a couple of quick bits with me today so I could share with you. Joelle our Junior Girls Village Director wanted to congratulate Emma for achieving her goal in .22 Riflery by hitting a cup of water at fifty yards away. Allie had a great time in photography this week and created a beautiful dolphin print.
Amanda from Mini Camp tells me that they had a fantastic time during their costume dance party on Monday night.
Well here’s a little update for week two and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for week three. There’s so many exciting things coming up next week. We have our great activities but also some fun 4th of July celebration activities. It’s going to be awesome!
See you next week.
Cris
